Day 1 UK to Vilnius
Fly to Vilnius, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel for two nights. The rest of today is at your leisure, why not take a walk into Vilnius’ Old Town, the outskirts of which are less than 15 minutes’ walk away. This evening’s dinner will be with our group. (D)
Day 2 Vilnius & Trakai Castle
After breakfast, join our tour guide for an orientation walking tour of the city. We will take in the wonderful architecture and visit the Old Town, which is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. This afternoon we head to Trakai, the former capital of Lithuania, where in the old town we will visit the island castle, one of the symbols of Lithuania. (B,D)
Day 3 Vilnius to Riga
Leaving Vilnius, we call at Siauliai to see the Hill of Crosses, which over almost two centuries has accumulated more than 100,000 crosses, effigies, statues and more. The place has become a national pilgrimage site for Lithuania. Continuing into Latvia, we visit 18th century Rundale Palace, a stunning Baroque building, with exquisite gardens and beautiful interiors. We arrive later this afternoon in Riga for our three night stay. (B,D)
Day 4 Riga
This morning we’ll enjoy an introductory walking tour of Riga, the colourful capital of Latvia. Between this tour and the afternoon you’ll have at leisure, discover some of Riga’s art nouveau buildings and the many historical streets and monuments in the city’s Old Town. (B, D)
Day 5 Latvia Open Air Museum and Jurmala
Today we visit Riga’s fascinating Open Air Museum, set on the banks of Lake Jugla, with an array of traditional Latvian buildings, the museum promotes the country’s culture and lifestyle. This afternoon, we will visit the popular coastal resort of Jurmala, where you can stroll along the pretty pedestrianized street or visit the beach. (B,D)
Day 6 Riga to Tallinn
Leaving Riga behind, we travel through the forest scenery of the Gauja National Park, calling at the picturesque town of Sigulda. Our next stop will be the Turaida Museum Reserve. Before reaching Tallinn, we will also call at the popular harbour city of Parnu. (B,D)
Day 7 Tallinn and Kadriorg Palace
Our guided walking tour will show us some of Tallinn’s landmarks, before we join the coach to see further outside of the city. This afternoon we go on to Kadriorg Palace, then you will have some free time back in Tallinn this afternoon, before our final dinner, which will be a medieval themed feast at the famous Olde Hansa restaurant. Day 8 Tallinn to UK
Today, after breakfast and check out at the hotel, you will be transferred to the airport, for your return flight home. (B)
